More of the same, yet maybe one of our more smoky days. I let the cows drift into new feed in NBW14a and 9. These series of paddocks were grazed in late winter and early spring, and their recovery was not great.

Hot and smoky during the day; warm and smoky at night. Cows stay put. Team has more discussions on early weaning. Poor wills singing with their clear liquid follow through softens an otherwise sober day.
Hot. Cows break into NBW7. We are having continuing difficulty holding the cattle with the temporary fence with persistent dry conditions, creating poor grounding for the fence charger.
Hot. Ryan pushes cows back into NBW5. I am in Bozeman to attend sangha.
Hot. Cows stay put. I am in Helena supporting a Jukai ceremony for 3 practitioners with the Open Circle Sangha.
Hot. Cows move into NBW5-the whole paddock with no splits, as I will be on the road to attend two sangha meetings.
Hot. Last day for the cows grazing in SBW4. Ricky Downes’ cows break into east side of NBW12. Worked late into night to fix the fence and move the neighbors’ cows back to the right pasture.
Hot and still. Two sage hens are seen along the riparian area in NBW4. I moved the cows into SBW4. No more splits. Ranch team financial control meeting is held to review 2017-18, and three-year forward plan.
Hot during the day and cool at night. Cows break first into NBW4 and then pushed back into all of SBW5 and 6. Frustrating working with the dry ground for grounding the charger, combined with cows pressing for old clover and fresh feed-constant vigilance. Another horn toad seen in SBW5.
